Guidelines & Instructions

Inspired and initiated by Param Pujya Swami Chinmayanandaji, Chinmaya Mission Pune has been conducting the Chinmaya Bhagavad Geeta Chanting Competition for more than two decades now.

This year, the Twelveth Chapter: bhakti-yogaḥ has been selected for the Competition.

This year being the 75th Year of Chinmaya Mission, we have the State level, National level and International level of the Competition where participants from each city (centers) will move ahead and upon selection, compete at the State level, move to the National Level and then to the International Level.

Entry Donation: This year Geeta Chanting Competition 2026 is made FREE for all. Voluntary contribution from Geeta Lovers are accepted. Please click on the Donation Tab for Voluntary Donation.

The Preliminary round will be conducted in the month of September 2026 and dates will be communicated to all registered participants.

In the Pune City Preliminary & Final round, participants of Groups A, B, C, D, E and F must memorize the allotted verses.
In the Pune City Preliminary & Final round, participants of Groups G and H can chant the verses by seeing the book.
Group G and H participants are allowed upto Pune City Final level only.
Points to be noted:
  1. All participants must register for the Competition first.
  2. Learning aid AUDIO MP3 of Ch. 12 and the Shloka pdf are available for free. Please check the Resources tab.
  3. Tune to be as per prescribed in Learning Aid only.
  4. The audio file has each shloka repeated twice for learning purpose however the child has to recite each shloka only once for the Competition.
  5. The decision of the Chinmaya Mission Judges will be final in all respects.
  6. Certificate of Participation will be given to all participants if they chant a minimum of 2 verses.
Marking Scheme:

Preliminary round = 100 marks

For students (Group A to F)

  1. Memory: 50 marks
  2. Pronunciation: 30 marks
  3. Presentation: 10 marks
  4. Meter / Tune: 10 marks

For elders (Group G and H)

  1. Pronunciation: 60 marks
  2. Presentation: 30 marks
  3. Meter / Tune: 10 marks

Final round = 100 marks

For students (Group A to F)

  1. Memory: 30 marks
  2. Pronunciation: 50 marks
  3. Presentation: 10 marks
  4. Meter / Tune: 10 marks

For elders (Group G and H)

  1. Pronunciation: 60 marks
  2. Presentation: 30 marks
  3. Meter / Tune: 10 marks

State Level:

The State level Finals will be conducted on 1st November 2026.

Prizes at the State level for each Group will be as follows::
