Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda, esteemed "Gita Acharya," dedicated his life to making the Bhagavad Gita
accessible to everyone. Recognizing the importance of nurturing these profound teachings from a young age, Swami
Chinmayananda introduced the Chinmaya Gita Chanting Competition (CGCC).
The CGCC has become a central activity in Chinmaya Mission Centres worldwide. Inspired by Swami
Chinmayananda’s belief in "catching them young," it began as a Bala Vihar programme, a nurturing space for
children's spiritual growth. Over time, the CGCC has blossomed to encompass all ages, fostering a vibrant
community united by a vision to share the knowledge of the Bhagavad Gita. This unique competition embodies
Chinmaya Mission’s progressive approach – "chant-study-know-live".
This competition is just to introduce students to this great cultural heritage of our nation, and which will
inspire them to understand the philosophy of Universal Brotherhood through this Song-Divine, as they grow up to
become responsible citizens.
The CGCC transcends a typical competition; it is a transformative journey of self-discovery. Chanting the
Bhagavad Gita ignites a desire to understand its meaning, leading to self-knowledge and ultimately, fulfillment.
It is the key that unlocks the treasure chest of God's love and opens a path to embrace wholeheartedly.
